Makeup Empties

Hi loves!  Nothing too exciting here, unfortunately.  However, we all know there usually much empties in the makeup category since, afterall, it’s just me using this stuff.  (I’m no makeup artist.)

As you can see, I’ve enjoyed the Maybeline the Falsies Volum’ Express Waterproof.  I’ve tried a couple colors and they all seem to be equally good.  I am getting a bit bored of it so I’m working on finishing my fourth tube and back to experimenting.  Possibly Clinique, Origins or my old HG, Trish McEvoy.

Next up, brows.  I really enjoyed the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash.  This mechanical pencil lends for easy application and a perfect brow look.  The formula is awesome, great color and long wearing.  However, considering price it just didn’t last as long as I would have hoped.  I’m curently using MAC brow in lingering which I like better.

As far as the Revlon Brow Fantasy…I didn’t like and was glad when I couldn’t sharpen it anymore.  I honestly didn’t like anything about it.

Lastly, MAC Studio Fix Fluid NC25.  I’m on my second bottle and don’t really have any complaints.  It’s my go-to foundation.  However, I habe my eye on a couple of others I want to try, after all, I am a beauty blogger 🙂

That’s it for my empties.

Lovingly,
Diana

March Favorites

For me, March was definitely an exciting month in makeup.  My favorite look was a flawless face with a subtle eye and a bright lip.  For a brief review/description on my favorite makeup bits please keep reading.  I also have some hair & body and skincare favorites too =)

March Favorites (4-2-13)

Makeup

  • YSL Volupte Sheer Candy #2:  This range of high end lip balms is amazing when it comes to shine and hydration.  The price point is probably as high as I would go for a tinted lip balm BUT the packaging (in my mind) makes it “ok” to splurge on.  I especially love adding this on top of lipsticks for extra shine or as a base under a bright lipstick for more sheet application.  Would HIGHLY recommend!
  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF15 foundation NC25:  I have been using this foundation for about 3 years now (I also have the NC30 shade for when I get a little bit of a tan.)  Of course, being the beauty aficionada that I am, I always love trying other foundations but I also come back to this one.  It has great coverage, lasts all day, great color match, bottle lasts a long time, packaging is good, price point is good, and doesn’t give my skin adverse reactions.  Best of all it has an SPF 15 that doesn’t flash back too much in photos.  Would highly recommend to everyone except DRY skin (unless you have a great moisturizer beneath) or very OILY skin because it does get shinny throughout the day.
  • Maybeline the Falsies Volum Express Waterproof Mascara:  Although this isn’t my favorite mascara of all times, for a drugstore mascara this stuff is pretty darn great.  I’m on my second tube and can’t seem to get bored with it.  The formula is good and the wand is also great (takes some getting use to.)  It lasts all day and hold a curl.  Best part is the lengthening effect =)
  • Maybeline Vivid lipstick in 895 On Fire Red and 875 Vivid Rose:  I love the color payoff and texture of these lipsticks.  I will definitely treat myself to a couple more colors in the future.  Overall, I would totally recommend these!
  • Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal liners in 003 Brown, 004 Taupe, 005 Nude:  I was so excited to finally get my hand on these bad boys.  These are AMAZING liners.  Granted I am not a huge liner connoisseur but I do know a thing or two.  They are super silky and soft; effortless to apply.  The brown is great as a thick line and smudged for a subtle daytime smokey eye.  The taupe is amazing when blended all over the lid to the crease, again, great for daytime subtle drama.  The best one is the nude, love it as a brightening shade at the waterline.

Makeup Brushes

  • Sephora Professionnel Airbrush Precision Foundation #56:  This has been my go to all time favorite foundation brush.  Basically it’s just perfect.  It’s soft, dense enough for great coverage, and blend effortlessly.  I’m not sure if Sephora still has the same one with silver handle, I think they have redesigned them.
  • Sephora Professionnel Tapered Foundation #58:  I love, love, love this one for blending concealer.  I’ll be honest; I got the idea from MakeupByTiffanyD.  She uses a similar brush by Sigma; I think the main difference is that the Sigma looks thicker and larger.

Hair & Body

  • Lubriderm Intense Skin Repair Lotion:  Overall, I am not a fan of putting on body lotion.  I just don’t like the process.  However, my skin is usually dry and itchy so I promised myself I would try and learn to love the pampering process of applying body lotions.  So far I’ve been pretty consistent with this one, which says a lot because I would normally have slipped it under the counter by now.  This stuff leaves my skin feeling amazing, soft and plump.  The scent isn’t all that but it has grown on me.

Skincare

  • Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Gentle Skin Cleanser:  No surprise here considering this is my second bottle of this stuff.  I have no complaints about this cleanser, it’s affordable and readily available at Walgreens, it’s creamy and rinses clean.  It has kept my skin pimple free and manages to not make my skin flare up.  I will say that if you’re looking for something to remove makeup this isn’t the right thing for you.  I love using this in the morning after my shower to freshen my face.
  • Neutrogena Deep Clean Cream Cleanser:  If you are looking for something that is good for night time to remove makeup then this might be more up your alley.  I’ve only used this for about two weeks but so far a big thumbs up.  It’s creamy and rinses clean.  Doesn’t have a bad scent, mostly clean smelling.  Leaves your face feeling tingly cool, with that said, it does make my eyes burn so beware.
